可以容易地把醛类还原为相应的醇类。
选择性地将α,β-不饱和醛类还原为不饱和醇类。
选择性地还原α,β-不饱和酮类中的羰基。
羧酸完全地还原为相应的醇类，还可在苯或甲苯中将酰胺类还原为醛类或胺类。酸酐类可被还原为相应的醇类。
环酐类转化为二醇类。
