性质与稳定编辑
1. 避免与强氧化剂接触。无色或近似无色透明液体，有浓烈而甜的蜂蜜香气。不溶于水，与乙醇、乙醚等有机溶剂混溶。避免蒸汽吸入。
2. 存在于烤烟烟叶中。
3. 天然存在于蜂蜜、小麦面包、可可中。 [2]
合成方法编辑
1. 由苯乙腈、乙醇和硫酸回流反应而得。于装有搅拌器、回流冷凝器的反应瓶中，加入95%的乙醇155mL，冰水浴冷却下慢慢加入浓硫酸150g，再加入苯乙腈75g（0.64mol），搅拌下加热回流8h。冷后倒入400g冰水中，分出有机层，加入乙醚75mL，用饱和碳酸氢钠溶液洗涤，水洗，无水硫酸钙干燥。蒸出乙醚。剩余物继续蒸馏，收集225～229℃的馏分，得苯乙酸乙酯约90g，收率86%。
2.也可由苯乙酸与乙醇在硫酸作用下酯化制得苯乙酸乙酯，收率90%。另一种生产方法是由苯乙酰胺经水解、酯化而得。 [2]

用作农药、医药中间体
【用途一】用于配制各种花香型日用香精。
【用途二】用作溶剂及香料辅助剂，也用于有机合成。
【用途三】少量用于多种类型的香型中，主要用于中、低档白玫瑰、檀香玫瑰、铃兰、甜豆花、橙花、蜜香、三叶草及一些脂蜡香香型中。可广泛应用于烟用及食用香精中，是好的烟用香精的香料。在蜜香、奶油、杏子、樱桃、桃子等食用香精中用量宜少。
【用途四】GB 2760—96规定为暂时允许使用的食用香料。主要用以配制蜂蜜、桃及烟草等型香精。
【用途五】该品为合成香料，具有显著而甜密的玫瑰花香。较谱遍用于烟、皂、日用化妆品的香精中，少量用于白玫瑰，微量用于橙花、甜豆及蜂蜜果子的香精，适用于哈瓦那型草香精。在医药工业该品用于生产巴比妥类催眠药鲁米那，也可用作溶剂。 [3]

Synthesis method editor
1. By phenylacetonitrile, ethanol and sulfuric acid reflux reaction. In a blender, the response of the reflux condenser in a bottle, add 155 ml 95% ethanol, ice water bath cooling slowly add sulfuric acid under 150 g, then add phenylacetonitrile 75 g (0.64 mol), stirring under heating reflux 8 h. Cold ice water pour into 400 g, to separate the organic layer, to join the ether 75 ml, washing with saturated sodium bicarbonate solution, washed, anhydrous calcium sulfate dry. Steamed out of the ether. Leftovers continue distillation, collected 225 ~ 229 ℃ fraction, phenyl ethyl acetate is about 90 g, yield of 86%.
2. Also can be made of benzene acetic acid with ethanol in the sulfuric acid by the esterification of benzene acetic acid ethyl ester, yield of 90%. Another production method is by the phenyl ethyl amide hydrolysis, esterification. [2]
